SyntaxBreakers Labhead01
Shared lab server · students and staff

One GPU. Shared fairly.

A Linux server with a job queue, a browser portal and a personal Linux box for everyone who works here. You log in with your own key and a 6-digit code; the queue makes sure nobody blocks the GPU for others.

What you get

Three ways to work, one account

Portal in the browser

Files, a terminal, your jobs and JupyterLab, all at ondemand.lab.syntaxbreakers.com. No SSH needed for everyday work.

GPU jobs through the queue

Submit with sbatch or the portal form. Students get one GPU for up to 8 hours per job; staff up to 24 hours. Usage is recorded, so sharing stays fair.

Your own Linux box

A personal Ubuntu container where you are root: install anything, break things, start over. 4 CPUs, 16 GB RAM, 100 GB disk, isolated from everyone else.

Access

How you get in

  1. Get an account

The admin creates it in the lab directory and gives you a home folder with a quota.

  2. Make your SSH key

ssh-keygen -t ed25519 on your own computer. Send only the .pub file to the admin.

  3. Scan your codes

In person, the admin shows two QR codes for your authenticator app: one for SSH, one for the web portal.

  4. Sign in

ssh you@lab.syntaxbreakers.com with key and code, or the portal with password and code.
